The Sabeel-Kairos Theology Group serves to explore and respond to the theological issues that churches face when engaging with Palestine and Israel. We seek to educate ourselves and others by engaging with the work of Palestinian theologians, responding thoughtfully and prayerfully, and standing in solidarity with those facing oppression and discrimination.
The Theology Group meets every three months via Zoom for learning, discussion, and solidarity. Other in-person and online events are also promoted throughout the year, such as book talks and webinars. The group encompasses people from all denominations and backgrounds; no prior knowledge or theological training is required!
The Theology Group is currently convened by Esther McIntosh and Diana Paulding-Sturdy. Esther is professor of feminist theology and ethics at York St John University and has consistently called for theologians to resist silent complicity and stand in solidarity with Palestinians in the face of oppression. Diana has a PhD in the field of the Hebrew Bible and is an active member of the United Reformed Church.
